Heat Advisory! Summer is still here!

Summer is still cranking out some 90 plus degree days. Coupled with the sun and humidity, the only fabrics that feel good to the skin are natural fibers. I made these two linen dresses over the course of a few days. One is an altered sewing pattern and the other is a copy of a dress that I already had. They are both no frills and came together quickly.

Here’s what I did.

For the pink linen dress, I left the sleeves off and made armhole facings to finish off the openings. I placed an invisible zipper on the side and added pockets. The pattern called for the zipper to be on the back, but zippers aren’t the most comfortable when it’s this hot out.

I only made the two alterations to the pattern. Connected the top to the bottom and I was finished in a day. I love how the dress sits low on the hip and how the asymmetrical drape cascades down the front.

For the gold, I copied a short Bohemian style dress that I owned. I elongated the bottom and left the ruffles off the sleeves. I also added ties to the back to cinch the waist.

I can’t wait to carry this one into the fall. It can be styled with a crop sweater or moto jacket and boots!
